The Pi Community Art Project was
a 14-month research project devised by Manners, Berry to document
through aerial film and photography the production of a large-scale
land art piece; with the support and participation of the community.
Conceptual Artist Paul Manners was the primary artist
of this project. It was his idea to draw circle around the heart
of Southend, as a Community Art Project where the participant would
not only be a part of the art but also the artists.
The drawing was an 8.33 mile circle,
performed in light; where the historic and iconic Southend Pier would
form the radius of the circle.
To achieve the project I was charged with mustering as many
people as possible from the local community to perform the circle
which would on evening Saturday 12th April 2008 be documented from
the air by the artists.
As Project Manager I was engaged
by Manners & Berry to spear-head and deliver the project for the
artists and to the community. My responsibilities included:
