 I
was invited to join the Planning Committee for the International
Women's Day Event in Southend, March 2010. The Planning Committee
comprised a group from the voluntary sector and statutory
bodies led by the Chair of the Turning Tides Committee.
For the past two years IWD
has been a Turning Tides initiative, supported by Southend
Association of Voluntary Services and Southend Borough Council.
I volunteered to produce promotional
material. I also organised for the event to be documented
in film and photography, from which a series of interviews
featuring some of Southend's extraordinary residents the have
been produced.
The film footage was shot
in partnership with My
Town Southend and is shared under Common Creative Licence.
